IT'S ALL HAPPENING!!

Well, I can't believe where last year went and we're nearly two weeks into 2015. 2014 saw us expanding sales of our home-grown rapeseed oil, as more of the public are becoming aware of its many benefits. Government directives are coming out to help promote healthy eating in our schools, hospitals and social care, that should see major steps in improving the nation's overall health and well-being.
With all this in mind we will be including as much information and links to Government and health websites that will help you all access as much of this information as possible.
Whilst on this subject, I took an opportunity to complete an NVQ2 in Nutrition and Health through Leicester College and successfully passed with glowing reports from the examiners. My certificate arrived this morning and will now be proudly displayed in the "Oil Pressing Shed" alongside other awards we have won at Ownsworths. I plan to take another course through Leicester College soon, this time on Diabetes Care as this is another area of interest as regards saturated fat levels in the modern diet and will help me when I am explaining about the low saturated fat levels of our rapeseed oil.
We are already booking stands at some of the local food events in Lincolnshire and our neighbouring counties of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire and are really excited about catching up with our loyal customers and passing on new recipes that I have been working on, and also to meet new customers interested in learning more about how we grow, press and bottle our very own rapeseed oil.
Talking about recipes - I have not been indulging myself too much over Christmas as I have been busy working on my current project - my very first book! More details of this to follow - so keep tuned!
We have now got the labels finished for the white and rose wine so we will be looking forward to making the wine available within the next few weeks. For the wedding market and hospitality markets we will be launching our sparkling wines for the Spring/Summer wedding seasons in the near future. We will let you know the date soon.
This month will see Andrew and his staff pruning the vines down at the vineyard and holiday cottage (the blog photo shows the cottage tucked away behind the hedge down at the vineyard - the grounds looked so pretty and sparkly on the frosty day I took this photo recently. Finally, as 2015 is going to be such a big year for Lincolnshire with everything Select Lincolnshire and Visit Lincolnshire are promoting for "Lincoln Castle Revealed", "The 800th anniversary of Magna Carta" and "The National Cycling Championships" amongst many other events - we will be updating you on all the things we will be involved with during this special year
