OUR LATEST AWARDS

Published 9th February 2015

Well we have had a busy last few weeks!  Our stockists have been ringing up for more of our home-grown oil, so we have been busy pressing more batches to keep up with demand.  We were delighted to find out at the end of January that we were again short-listed in Select Lincolnshire's Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards 2015.

Last year we were short-listed in the "Grower of the Year" category and came Runner-UP (Highly Commended).  This year we were entered into two categories and can proudly announce we came Runner-Up in both "Grower of the Year" and also "Producer of the Year"!!  These awards mean so much to us at "Ownsworths" as it re-enforces the message to us that all our customers (both wholesale and retail) just love our oil and appreciate our good service and support with recipes and information on our rapeseed oil.

The Awards ceremony was held at The White Heather Hotel, at Caenby Corner, Lincolnshire.  A bucks fizz reception and a chance to mingle with fellow nominees, potential new customers and the celebrities invited to the event, made for a very pleasant evening.  BBC Look North were filming the event live and the county glossy magazines were there all snapping photos for next month's editions.  Celebrity Chef, Rachel Green, was an entertaining guest speaker and Rob Underwood (BBC Lincolnshire radio presenter) was compere for the evening.

We were delighted to share a table with Flora and Paul Bennett from Brackenborough Hall Coach House Holidays who were nominated in the best Self-Catering category and I am pleased to announce they came Runner-UP (Highly Commended).  A delightful couple and if you look up their website you can see why they were nominated.

I have been working very hard on some more recipes using our rapeseed oil and some of these have found their way into local charity cook books, and blogs that I now regularly write for our local village newsletter and Love British Food

The boys have been very busy pruning the vines down at the holiday cottage and vineyard.  I did feel sorry for the them last week - the weather was terrible!  It was so cold with frequent snow showers - now that's commitment for you!  I will post some of the photos I took on our Facebook page over the next couple of weeks.

I have been very busy sprucing up the holiday cottage for 2015.  We usually have a couple of weeks towards the end of January when we have an opportunity to repaint, wash all the curtains and implement any new additions and improvements we want to make our guests' stays even more enjoyable and memorable - I can tell you it looks beautiful!  Check out our Facebook  and Twitter pages for special offers and information.

Until next time - keep warm and safe.
