COOKERY BOOK AND RECIPES

Published 30th March 2015

With the food shows and events only just beginning to start this year - I have been very busy in the office and finally written that cookery book I promised you all!  Over the last 3 or 4 years I have created lots of recipes using our rapeseed oil and tested them on "the farmer" and his farm workers!  Once approved by them - I have taken many of my bakings "on the road" at food events in Lincolnshire and surrounding counties and been delighted at the response you have all given me on how well the baking, marinades and dressings have tasted.  It is with your encouragement to publish many of these recipes, that I have been inspired to sit down and write my very first book - which is just about to be printed.  (I will post details on my next blog as well as our Facebook and twitter pages).

I have had the most fun taking many of the photos for my book - I think I have found a new hobby!

Many of these photos were displayed at a very special event we attended on Lincolnshire Showground on Sunday 29th March 2015.  "Countryside Lincs" was organised by Rosie Crust, the Education and Development Manager at Lincolnshire Showground, and was a "fun packed extravaganza about food, farming and the countryside.  Families had the chance to step into six different indoor and outdoor zones, to make, bake and explore life on the farm".  Following the success of this new event, Rosie is looking at a date for next year - so I will keep you informed.

We certainly enjoyed the day, working alongside other local producers.  Visitors were able to see how we grow, press and bottle our oil, see the oilseed and by-product, taste the oil and cakes made by me, as well as children could enter our competition to win a 250 ml bottle of our oil by absorbing facts from our information boards and answering a few simple questions.

We were also busy at another event that weekend with sons, Tom and Jim attending Thoresby Spring Foodfest in the Stable Block at Thoresby Hall, Nottinghamshire.  We are a regular attender at both the Spring and Winter Foodfest events organised by Adelanta and love to catch up with regular customers who are keen to replenish their stock of our oil, find out my new recipes and learn of new developments we are planning.  Always a delightful event to attend in beautiful surroundings with talented fellow stall holders and of course our wonderful customers!

The holiday cottage is looking particularly pretty at the minute and recent guests have returned to us from California wanting to trace their ancestors as well as new customers from neighbouring counties, visiting Lincolnshire for the first time and pleasantly surprised on how much there is to do in Lincolnshire.  Check out my latest special deals on our sister website www.fulbeckgardenscottage.com

I'll post a recipe from my book in next month's blog.
