FULBECK GARDENS COTTAGE

Published 27th August 2018

This month my blog is concentrating on www.fulbeckgardenscottage.com - the holiday let I run on our farm.  Many of the guests I have welcomed over the years, come to enjoy the peace and relaxation they find when they kick their shoes off and sink into the comfy sofas or beds before tucking into some of the goodies I provide in their complimentary Welcome Hamper of local produce.

There's so much to choose from from our fabulous county and I'm always hearing about new artisan food and drink producers to showcase and try out their wares.   I like to introduce my returning guests to produce they didn't sample the last time they stayed at the cottage, however, many guests still request some of their favourite treats they've had before such as Lincolnshire plum bread or Cotehill Cheese and of course Pipers Crisps always go down well whilst dinner is simmering away on the range cooker in the cottage.

People are so much more travelled these days and expectations of quality of accommodation and standards of cleanliness are so much higher and rightly so! And that means I am always on my toes, working hard to maintain and exceed my own standards and those of my guests.

I'm already promoting the Lincolnshire Food and Gift Fair to guests which takes place on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December 2018 on the Lincolnshire Showground, where "Locally sourced food, gifts, cookery demonstrations, wine tasting and hands-on craft workshops are on the menu ....." (source Lincolnshire Showground website).

I'm sure there will be lots of local artisan gins available to buy from the fair - and as gin is so popular these days I've added some gin glasses to the drinks cabinet this year.  That's not all, I've created a simple outdoor changing area for guests using the hot-tub, replaced some of the furnishings and upgraded the Cottage Welcome File with more information and taken some lovely photos of what to find at the local farm shop and artisan bakery as well as the interesting Fulbeck Tea-Rooms and Craft Centrewww.visitlincoln.com have provided me with a comprehensive leaflet display so guests will always find lots to see and do each time they book a short break or weekly holiday.

We really can't complain about this month's weather - it has been scorching!  Some of our guests have pulled up alongside the fields and been able to watch Andrew busy cutting his wheat and barley and have said how lovely it is to "escape their busy city lives" and enjoy the comings and goings of life in the countryside - now that's just what we like to hear!
