FUN AT CHRISTMAS!

Published 18th December 2018

A family home cook for years! I enjoy nothing more than creating tasty dishes and baking, using quality, local ingredients to feed my family and workers.

Throughout the year, I'm testing new recipes and showcasing them to those wishing to get the most out of their bottle of Ownsworth's Rapeseed Oil and of course I love to hear about recipes you are creating using our oil too.

It's a serious job farming you know - tending our crops and animals well and making sure we do our best in everything we do - so when it comes around to Christmas it's nice to have a little fun!! And that's where my "Christmas Tree Pizza" came about this month - I bet you haven't seen one of these before!!

I used my dough recipe for "Lincolnshire Day" Celebration Pizza (see my blog for October 2016 for the full recipe) to create the base of the pizza, only instead of rolling the scone based dough into a rectangle, I shaped the dough into a simple Christmas tree design - ingenious I know!

Next I spread over some of the fresh tomato sauce I make, before slicing thick strips of delicious "Mountain's Boston Sausage" Lincolnshire Chine and placing those diagonally on the pizza dough tree, to represent garlands.  Then I placed some steamed baby brussell sprouts and cherry tomatoes on to look like Christmas baubles before baking the pizza in a 180 degree C/350 degree F/Gas Mark 4 oven for approximately 15-20 minutes.

Whilst the pizza was cooking I cut up some mini triangles of Lincoln Imp cheese to create a cheese star for the top of the Christmas Tree and some spare cubes finished off the decoration.

Just a bit of fun folks!  And if you don't fancy making a tree - how about moulding the raw dough into a ring, adding the toppings and creating a Christmas Wreath pizza!

All the very best for Christmas 2018!  See you all in 2019!!
