COUNTRYSIDE LINCS 2019

Published 18th April 2019

Countryside Lincs is an amazing family day out for all those interested in food, farming and the countryside.  It is held on Lincolnshire Showground and is now in its 5th year.  We've had an information stall there for the past 4 years, but this year we decided to experience the event for ourselves - and we weren't disappointed.

I took along son James and his girlfriend, Becky - and of course Andrew! and we were blessed with good weather.  We headed first for the cattle and sheep sheds which were a major attraction to the families with young children - and I spotted a nanny goat and her 2 kids which I would have loved to have brought home but couldn't so had to settle for taking my photo instead.

Then it was onto the vintage machinery and crafts and heritage area before heading indoors to the food producers arena.  A chance to catch up with fellow food producers we know and meet some new ones we didn't and to purchase some delicious Redhill farm pork burgers and sausages - oh and a chilli and lime chocolate Easter egg for our daughter, Rosie.  I hope she remembers who bought it for her and she saves me a piece!

And finally onto the environmental and countryside shed.  I was particularly interested in visiting all the stalls in there - especially the wildlife tables.  Hey!  I'm proud to say that on the RSPB stall I was able to identify all the birds on their quiz.   I came back with a bag full of leaflets which I can read and then pop into our holiday cottage for guests who come to the farm and are interested in learning about our local wildlife.

Fuelled up with a pulled pork bap and cup of tea, we all agreed we'd seen everything so headed off home.  You really need to put this event in your diary for next year - and if you pop along - come and say hello at our stand in the food producers hall.
